#Boatlife

A few weeks ago my wife and I got the chance to see tiny home living, and the travel life from a different perspective. We drove out to a small, run down marina in North Florida and stuffed four people, and two dogs into a tiny beat up dingy, to ride out to a beautiful old sail boat on the water.

The cabin of the boat was smaller than that of a regular house, but bigger than our tiny home on wheels. The wood was old, and the house was in the middle of a renovation, but it was comfortable and it felt like home. It had all of the fittings that we're used to in a house on land, and much more comfort than some homes ever have.

Van life and boat life are very similar in some ways. You have to get used to small space living, and you give up a lot and you leave everything up to the unknown. Living on a boat, however, takes this from a completely different perspective. In our home we can go anywhere the road takes us, in his house he can go anywhere. Living on a boat you don't have to worry about black out curtains and if the cops will ask you to move on. It's just you and the water.

We spent the day talking about travels, and enjoying the company of people we admire. Each of us comfortable in our own stories, and our own silence. It was a welcome reminder to why we're doing this, and why we're giving up so much.

It is always inspiring to see other people living out their dreams, and our day spent on the sail boat was no exception. It's beautiful seeing others living a simple life, full of hope, of freedom, and with a calmness we rarely get a chance to see among people who's homes don't move.

I'm glad to take a step back sometimes and view travel life from different perspectives. And I'm glad for the friends that we have in this life, who are always more than willing to pop open a beer with us and play some guitar.

Adventure is out there for us to find.
