Yellow Springs Ohio

Over a year ago my wife and I got this grand scheme to travel the country and just keep traveling and exploring until finally somehow we found the place in the world were we really wanted to stay. The goal was to find a place that felt like home. Over the course of our adventures we have found a ton of places that feel like home. We have lived in North Georgia, in Asheville, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, in Virginia Beach and tons of other places. Everywhere we stay for a few days ends up feeling like home,,, at least until we found Yellow Springs.

Nestled in small town South Western Ohio sits the perfect little Hippie Pocket of Yellow Springs. I have never felt more naturally at home in a place until we drove into Yellow Springs. This tiny town has just two main roads that make up downtown. One small art theater sits at one of end one road, and one small coffee shop sits at the other end of the other road. And between these two locations sits cute hippie shops sellings odds and ends, books stores, clothing shops, a florist and more.

Just to one side of town is a nature preserve where you find the original Yellow Springs, amazing stacked rocks, and a beautiful waterfall. The hiking through the preserve is lightly peppered with people at almost any time of day, all out enjoying the beauty of nature.

Lining the streets most weekends in Yellow Springs are buskers. For those who do not know, buskers are people who street perform for tips. Mingled among the guitar players and banjo players one weekend sat my wife and I. Me with a blanket and crystals spread out offering Tarot readings, and my wife plucking away at her Ukulele. And we were home.

But alas, the road called again, and we had to answer the call. And so off we continued, West.
