Flatwoods Wilderness Park

Just outside of Tampa Florida nestled among the trees is miles of smooth paved roads that make up Flatwoods Wilderness Park.

When we got to the park the first thing we noticed was all of the bicyclists. Since the park has a 7 mile paved loop it is a much used area for bikes. Besides the bike road though, the park has beautiful hiking trails, and amazing trees and landscape around you.

There is water stations along the path that each had paper cups and ice cold water for people to stop and get.

Everyone along the trail was very friendly to us, and seemed genuinely happy. Although, how could one not be happy when out in such a beautiful park?

There are clean bathrooms at the front of the park, as well as picnic tables around.

My wife and I even found a cool area that appears to be an old, long since abandoned, work out area. It had an old rope swing and a balancing log.

If you're in the Tampa area, or just passing through, this is a great park to go to for some simple adventuring. There is a $2 fee per car that you drop into an envelope in a box after you park. It is simply a beautiful place and worth the stop.
